Invitation to Test Connection to Video Conference System for Cases Before Judge Gorman

Thursday, July 2, 2020

With the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the need for bankruptcy cases to proceed in due course, Judge Gorman is beginning to use video conferencing to hold certain evidentiary hearings. As the Court implements its video conferencing system, all practitioners who expect to have matters set before Judge Gorman-as well as parties and witnesses in matters currently scheduled for trial before Judge Gorman-are invited to test their own video equipment and its compatibility with the Court’s system.

The Court will be offering two time slots for testing:

Wednesday, July 15, 2020, from 12:30 pm - 1:00 pm, and
Thursday, July 16, 2020, from 3:30 pm - 4:00 pm.

Users can log into the system during the above time windows by following the instructions set forth here.

Generally, an internet-enabled desktop, laptop, or tablet device with a camera and microphone and Google Chrome or Safari installed is all that is needed. While the video conference system is compatible with Apple devices, older-generation devices may not be able to connect to the system.

At this time, only certain matters will be set for trial by video conference. All practitioners are nevertheless encouraged to verify whether their device or equipment is compatible with the Court’s video system and that they are able to connect without issue. Court staff will be available during the testing windows to provide assistance to the extent able.
