A personal computer running a standard operating system such as Windows or Macintosh
Internet Access
An internet browser, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox.  (Note: The current version of CM/ECF has been tested with Internet Explorer version 6.0 and 7.0 and FireFox 2.0 as representative browsers.) Mozilla Firefox is compatible with Mac and can be downloaded at no cost.
Software to convert documents to portable document format (PDF). Acrobat Standard version 8.0 is recommended. Adobe Acrobat 7 Standard and Adobe Acrobat 6 Standard adequately meet the CM/ECF filing requirements as well. Corel WordPerfect has the ability to create Adobe PDF documents as well. Other software by smaller vendors can also create PDF documents. Although filers run the risk of creating pleadings that are nonstandard and/or out-of-sync with Adobe PDF documents. Keeping software up-to-date is the best method to ensure pleadings comply with the latest PDF standards. National standards are being developed for PDF documents which will help guarantee the integrity of pleadings.
Adobe Reader, which will enable you to view, print, and download documents from the Court's electronic case files, is available for free from Adobe's website. It also comes bundled with Adobe Acrobat Standard.
Optionally, a scanner, to convert documents that you do not create yourself (e.g., exhibits) to .pdf images that can be filed electronically.
  Note, it is not required, but debtor attorneys may want Windows-based petition software that is compatible with the CM/ECF case upload feature.  This will expedite the filing of new cases.
